Needles Lodge in Marloth Park is located on the southern border of the Kruger National Park in South Africa. The lodge is owned and operated by Denis Goffinet. Denis is not only a great host but for anyone who is a wildlife enthusiast, he has a wealth of information regarding the local wildlife and in particular the 300 bird species in the area.
At the Lodge you can expect to see regular ‘wildlife’ visitors including zebra, giraffe, kudu, wildebeest and warthogs to name a few. Needles Lodge has a ‘pet’ warthog called Fatso who can often be found relaxing in the garden or on the front porch.
Needles Lodge is well situated for day trips and/or transfers to Swaziland and Mozambique. For a relaxing outing I would recommend the trip to the capital of Mozambique, Maputo where you can indulge in a seafood lunch on the Costa Dol Sol beachfront. Mozambique offers a wealth of photographic opportunities. For underwater photographers and divers Tofo offers some of the best whale shark sightings in the world.
Swaziland is a great place for shopping and a trip to the local craft markets and the Ngwenya glass factory are worth a visit. Photographic opportunities abound for those interested in capturing the cultural heritage and people of the country.
Needles Lodge is located close to the Crocodile River entry gate to the Kruger National Park for visitors who want to experience a game drive.
