Zebras Entwined
Three species of zebra still occur in Africa. The most numerous and widespread species in the east is Burchell's Zebra also known as the common or plains zebra (seen in this image). Their stripes come in different patterns, unique to each individual. Male Plains/Burchell's Zebras can weigh up to 300 Kg whilst females are a little smaller. Zebra's can live up to 30 years old but generally the life expectancy in the wild is about 12 years due to predators.
These zebras were photographed in the Kruger National Park, South Africa..
